Welcome
Here it is, 2003;  where did 2002 go so fast?  I hope you had a nice Christmas and New Years Eve celebration.  And thank you, one and all, for a very nice party on Commander's Day.

I would also like to thank the comrades that helped to decorate the Post for the Holidays.  My wife and I couldn't have done it without your help.

Lately, the grade school children have been interviewing World War II veterans.  So many veterans have died recently and their stories of the war, and what they did, have been lost forever.  This is a plea to all you vets to write or record your experiences before it's too late.  They called us World War II vets the "greatest generation" and it will be a shame if we are soon forgotten.  Hopefully the children will soon interview the Korean and Vietnam vets before it's too late.

During the week of Dec 9th to the 13th the Honor Guard performed in at least 5 funerals and had to turn down a couple more.

So I will close now with a prayer that finds you all in good health along with your loved ones.
Yours in the New Year,  John F. Polgar, Cmdr

REMINDER
To the annual dues paying members, if your dues for 2003 were not paid by Dec 31st,  your key card will not allow you access to the Canteen.  The lock  change for the new cards took effect on January 1st.  To avoid embarrassment pay your dues now.  Or better yet, take advantage of the 50% off special on the Life Member fee still in force.  The Post membership comprises a total of 1479 comrades of whom 93 percent are Life Members.  Why not be a member of this group?  See the Quartermaster or one of the Officers.

HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT
This equipment, wheel chairs, crutches, walkers, canes and potties are available for your use when needed.  But we ask that you take care of this equipment, and when it is returned to the Post please bring the copy of the use form back with the equipment.  That is the only way the chairman can keep track of where it is.  And when it's no longer needed don't put it under the porch or in the garage.  Someone else is probably in need of it.

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY
I would like to thank everyone for coming and being a part of the Christmas Party.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.

Bill Gong did a great job.  Linus & Snickers, the clown, also did a great job.  The kids, parents and grand-parents really seemed to enjoy themselves.  Santa Claus showed up at the end to make this party complete.

I would like to give a special thanks to Charlie Wirth, (co-chairman) for announcing the names of the children who Santa left gifts for;  my wife, Linda, her mother & father, Buzz & Sis Snyder who helped shop and wrap gifts;  the maintenance group, Gary Melnyk, Marshall Williams, Hank Wilson for getting the hall just the way it needed to be;  Marty & Natalie Blaine for passing out the candy and juice boxes;  Lorraine & Dick Cragin for taking pictures with Santa.  Great job, Dick & Lorraine! And I can't forget about Karen Melnyk.  She did several jobs that needed to be done.  A jack of all trades, master of none.  Karen, we love you. Thanks to everyone  it takes a lot of people to make this work.
See you next year.  Charlie Crabeels, Chrn

Ruth Conrad -President
Well, another month is gone.  I want to thank the ladies that attended Pearl Harbor Day ceremonies.

REHAB: Remember to let Eleanor know if you know of someone that is ill or in the hospital.

MEMBERSHIP: We are doing real good in membership, but there are still about 100 who haven't paid their dues.  And, if not paid by the 31st of Dec, you won't be able to get in the Post until you pay them.

We have made all our donations for the year and all chairman are doing a great job with the chairmanships.

Remembers, Midwinter Conference is coming next month and District 9 is hosting it.  Hope to see a lot of you in Sandusky.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.  See you next year.

To those who are ill, we wish a speedy recovery.  To those who have lost a loved one, we send our Sympathy. Ruth Conrad, President
