VFW District 9 will meet at Green Springs Post 6067, on Sunday March 4th, at 10 a.m. The annual Memorial Service honoring our departed comrades who have passed on during the past year will conclude the meeting.

By Golly, it's that time of year again; St Patrick's Day. Make plans to attend our Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner. Check the President's section for details.

Brecksville Hospital Treat

Come along with us and visit our hospitalized comrades. They appreciate the attention and the time spent playing bingo and serving dessert. You'll be glad you did.

Membership

The Post is at 81% of last year's total of 1931 members. Of this total, 1432 are Life Members. So far, only 128 of the annual dues-payers have sent in dues for 2001. If you know of anyone who is delinquent, please give him or her a nudge. Or better yet, get them to purchase a Life Membership at 1/2 the rate. It's a bargain!

If you didn't make a contribution to the WW2 Memorial yet, please do so. The reality is almost here. And it's about time. The greatest percentage of WW2 Vets will never gaze their eyes upon it.

Post Golf League Spring Meeting Sunday, March 11, 2001, 1 p.m. Open to all members & social members of Post 1079. If you plan on playing, please attend this meeting. Sign up sheet in rec-room area of Canteen.

VFW Seniors League

Meeting Sun. March 25th, 1:PM Royal Oaks Clubhouse. 18 Hole course this year. For more Information call Juluis Pondy.

State Tournament Bowlers

Chairman has cancelled team participation in the VFW StateTournament for the lack of un-advanced funds for ENTRY FEES. Those wishing to take part may make their own arrangements and then return to the floor for re-imbursement of expenses.

Ladies

Our year is slipping away fast. Only 3 months left before the June Convention. That is why we would like to be 100% in Membership. We are now at 95% paid, needing 52 members to pay their dues. If you are one of the unpaid, just remember that you will not be permitted to join in activities at the Post and your cancer insurance will not be in effect, nor will you be permitted to enter the Post. Just think of what all you will lose. So please send your dues of $18.00 to Cathy Eckhart c/o Post 1079, 500 South Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.

March 17th, St Pat's Day, the Post is having a Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner. Cost, $6.00 per person. Serving from 5 to 6 p.m. Tickets in the Canteen.

The Auxiliary meetings are on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month. The second meeting, March 20th. we will be having a White Elephant Sale. Please bring something that you would like to get yourself for this sale. It is to support our Cancer Funds. It is also a Tureen, so bring a big covered dish with lots of food. Starting at 6 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.. Let's have a good turn out for this meeting. Don't forget your White Elephant and please have it wrapped.

If you can't come to our meetings but would like to volunteer some time to support our Veterans, we need your help on Wednesday nights around 7:30 p.m. We also need help in the kitchen when having dinners. If you would like to be a part of this, talk to your President

Buddy Poppy Panda Bear Pins

Buy one to help our Disabled Veterans. They have done so much for you. At this time the Post & Auxiliary would like to congratulate Buddy Poppy Chairmen, Linda Husk, for capturing 1st Place honors for her Buddy Poppy Display at the Midwinter Conference.

Hospital

The Auxiliary wishes to thank everyone for their donations of Birthday Cards. I'm sure the Ohio Veterans Home and Golden Acres Nursing Home extend their thanks, also.

National Home

The Ladies Auxiliary and the Children at the National Home wish to thank all for the Campbell Soup labels. Keep them coming in and the new van will be a reality soon.

Community Service

Chairman Doris Adkins has a Bus Trip coming up on April 25th. Cost $40. If interested, call.
