March/April 2004 Newsletter
On February 8th, 2004 Alan "Jay" Arnett resigned as Canteen Manager. Alan did a great job, and we all owe him a big 'thank you". I'll miss him.
I must commend the Post Honor Guard. The weather this winter has been bitter cold and sometimes the funerals are late in arriving. Great job comrades, Thanks!
I can't believe it is March already. Winter is almost over with!
A Memorial Service will be included in the next District 9 meeting. It will be held at Fremont Post 2947 on Sunday, March 7th. Registration begins at 12: noon and the meeting commences at 1:00 PM. Our van will leave at 11:00 AM.
March 13th, VFW District 9, MIA/POW Dinner program will be held at Lorain Post 451. Social hour from 5 - 6:PM with dinner to follow. Cost is $12.00 per person, but is free to all former POW members of Post 1079 along with their wives. Let me know ASAP, and I will get the tickets for you from the District chairman.
Please exercise your right and vote in the March primary election.
Our Boy Scout Troop 107 will be having a spaghetti dinner on Wednesday, April 7th, 5 - 7:PM. Tickets ($5.00) at door. Please come out and support them.
April means the coming of Spring, Daylight Savings Time begins and Election of Officers. Nomination at the 1st meeting, continuing with nominations and election at the 2nd meeting. A happy, successful Post must have officers who are devoted to their obligations, welfare of fellow comrades, and respect and compatibility with the other officers. If you are interested in running for an office, now is the time to get active.
Writing a 2 month newsletter is almost a mind boggling job in trying to relate upcoming activities and correct dates, etc. I hope you will overlook any mistakes. God Bless, Steve

Sisters of the Auxiliary
The Midwinter Conference was very informative and our Sisters' enthusiasm was truly inspiring.
It was suggested that we write to the Supreme Court, U.S.A., Washington, DC 20543 to keepOne Nation under God, and in God we Trust. If they support us, we will support them. They should be serious about our Veterans.
