Ponderings by the Commander:
Good news, Winter is half over per Dick Goddard!
I must commend the Post Honor Guard. The weather this winter has been bitter cold & most of the time the funerals are late in arriving. Great job, Comrades; the Post thanks you. We miss the company of our Captain, Pat LePore, who is still ill.
A Memorial service will be included in the next District 9 meeting for all deceased members of each Post. The ceremony includes the reading of the names of all Comrades in the District Posts who have passed on during the past year. The meeting will be held Sunday, Mar. 6th. at Marblehead Post 7572.
The Midwinter Conference (Jan 27-30) was very successful with excellent representation from District 9. District Commander Greg Wayman was very pleased with all the Post’s contributions to the District Hospitality Room. It was reported as the best.
The next Lorain Co Council meeting will be March 8th at Wellington Post 6941.
If you are interested in running for an office, now is the time to let it be known to the members. Election of Post officers is coming up in April. You have no room to complain, if you don’t take part in the election process. God Bless, Steve Kotai

MEMBERSHIP
As of this date, Feb 17, the total membership of the Post consists of 1383 comrades. This reflects a Life Membership at 1282…….4 New members for the year, 3 Re-instated and 94 Annual dues paying continuous members. I would like to see our Post become an ALL LIFE MEMBER POST before I leave this Office in June. With the special 50% savings on Life Memberships I just don’t see why our remaining annual paying membership isn’t taking advantage of this offer. Besides, annual payers give $14.50 of their fee to National & State, thus leaving the Post with $2.50, whereas the Post receives a per-capita of $3.50 to $5.50 per year from the Life endowment. The hold-outs better take heed, this 50% SPECIAL by the Post may be about ready to be scrubbed because our income is half of what it used to be. Frank West, Quartermaster
