Ponderings by the Commander:
I can’t believe last year Easter Sunday fell on April 11th and this year it was on March 27th. I hope you had a joyous Easter with your family.
April means the coming of Spring, Daylight Savings Time begins, and election of Post officers. Nominations at the first meeting, continuing with nominations and election at the 2nd meeting. Please exercise your right to vote at the election. Make sure you have your VFW 1079 membership card to show at the entrance to the meeting room on election night. You can’t participate without your card.
I’ve decided not to run for a third term.
Let’s get attendance at the meetings up to where it used to be when our members return from Florida. We average about 40 now, but I can remember when most meetings were attended by about 95.
My thanks to Rosalie West for working so hard to prepare a nice lunch for everyone after the meetings. She has been doing this work by herself since Vivian Urig has been sick, and Mare LePore is caring for Pat. Make her feel good by thanking her.
The Testimonial Dinner for District 9 Cmdr, Greg Wayman, will be held at Lorain Post 451 on Apr 30, 2005. More on this later.
Congratulations to Marshall Williams for his efforts in recruiting new & re-instated members for the Post. I appreciate all you have done, Marshall! God Bless, Steve

Happy, Happy Springtime!
Lots of new and fun things coming your way this Spring. But first off I must take this opportunity to thank the Post for their $1200 donation & all my bartenders & friends who donated bail money to get Diane Wolfe & “Yours Truly” out of the Muscular Dystrophy LockUp. Thanks, all!!
Our first big function will be a Reverse Raffle & Dinner. More of this on back under calendar.
Yes, we are going to stay open on Sundays. Hours will be from 2—7:PM. Come out and watch your favorite sports or play shuffleboard, pool or darts.
Members, you must give the bartender on duty your membership card to get the pool balls. We use to ask for a dollar, but too many times pool balls came up missing from the rack. Please understand, these balls are very expensive to keep replacing.
I am planning a trip to Windsor. The date is June 4th. It’s $30 per person, drinks included, and you receive $15 dollars back in Windsor coins when we get there. If you’re interested in joining us for a good time, SEE ME. The $30 is due when you sign up.
Until May, Tina
