Welcome
By the time you receive this newsletter the year 2002 will be half over.  Where did the time go!

On June 6, 1944 the Allies invaded France.  58 years have passed and I still remember that day, as I was there.  To this day I cannot forget the horrible lose of soldiers, sailors and airmen.  I pray we never have to repeat that, or any other invasion. John F Polgar, Cmdr

I hope everyone had a nice 4th of July.  Post 1079 is hosting the Lorain County Council Treat at Brecksville on Friday July 12th.  The van will leave the Post at 6 p.m. and we would appreciate some volunteers to help with the bingo games and help serve the cake and ice cream.

The Life Member Steak Fry will be on Saturday, July 27th. From 1 p.m to 4 p.m.  Don't forget to fill out the tear-slip under the calendar and leave it at the bar with your deposit of $5.00, or mail it to Chrn Frank West.

Our next Post meeting will be on July 15th.  I would like to see a bigger turn-out than we have been seeing.  We only have 40 to 50 members show up out of 1535 members.  It seems to me that a lot of comrades are not interested in the business of the Post.  Come on Comrades, try it, you'll like it.  Rosalie & Marie always have a nice treat after the meeting.

And don't forget, if every comrade would only sign up one new member, it will help us remain the largest Post in Ohio. John F Polgar, Cmdr

BY-LAW CHANGE
The change proposed to the Post by-laws was ruled "out of order" at the June 17th meeting because of a technicality concerning the time of notification allowance.   The notice in the newsletter did not allow the required 30 days prior to the meeting vote.

NOTICE
Enclosed with this mailing is the flyer for the Post Picnic on Sunday, Aug ust11, 2002.  Please follow the directions for registration and get your slips and fees in early.   And, if you would like to help out in some way, see someone on the Picnic Committee.   They will surely find something for you to do.  SEE YOU THERE!!!

NOTICE
Roger was unable to attend the Post meeting on June 17 and therefore no longevity lapel pins were passed out.  This will be taken care of at the meeting on July 15th.  Please plan to attend.

MILITARY MUSEUM
Interested in military memorabilia and artifacts? Take a trip to Mott's Military Museum located outside Groveport, Ohio.  The display spans the eras from the Revolutionary and Civil War to the Persian Gulf War.  Worth the trip!

Ruth Conrad -President
As this is my first newsletter I would like to thank all the members for electing me for their President for the year 2002-03. I will do the best job that I can for you.  And with your help we will have a good year.

As of now there isn't much news that I can tell you, except that the new year started after the State Convention installation of officers.  As of now I am the President, and the first thing is our Attendance Dinner that will be held at Gus's on Lake Road, Sheffield Lake, July 2nd; the same place that we went to last year.  If you have any questions, you can call me, or Lorraine Cragin. It will be at 5:30 PM.

The Council of Administration will be held July 26-28 at the Cleveland Airport Marriott, 4277 West 150th  St., Cleveland, OH 44135.  It would be nice if you could attend this C of A.  You can learn a lot about all the Chairmanships.

If you know of someone that is ill at home, or in the hospital, contact my Rehabilitation Chairman, Eleanor Reith.  She will send them  a Bud Vase and a  Get-well card.  But she can only send them if she knows that they are ill.  When you tell the Canteen help, the Chairman doesn't always get the message.   You can call the chairman.

Your new Officers for the year are:

Sr Vice -----------Lorraine Cragin
Jr Vice ----------- Magdalene Elek
