We are having our final picnic meeting on August 2 at 7 p.m. The Post Annual Family Picnic will be held Sunday August 13, '00, Noon 'til 6 p.m. LITTLE ROCK BAND will play from 25 p.m.

Please use the sign-up sheet in the Canteen for a work spot for those volunteering there time to help out.

VA Veterans Health Fair

Post 1079 will host this program on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Lorain County Fair

This year the veterans of Lorain County will have their own building at the Fair, August 21 thru 27. If all goes as planned, there will be a Service Officer in attendance for each day of the Fair. Also, the hopes are to expand the resources and make this hall reflect the extensive work accomplished by the veterans groups and their auxiliaries. If you would like to assist with this program, contact Wilma Zech.

VFW National Convention

Officers will be attending the convention in Milwaukee from August 19 to the 25th. A report of the proceedings will be given at the next Post meeting. Martin Blaine, Cmdr

Ladies Auxiliary News

Lorraine Cragin - President

As we go into our second month of our new year, remember, it is time to pay your Dues ($18.00) for the year 2001. We are trying very hard to be 100% by the Mid-Winter Conference. You can bring your dues in or mail them to the Post Aux. If you have any questions about your dues, please contact our Treasurer, Cathy Eckhart.

If you know of a member that is ill at home or in the hospital that you would like a card sent to or have their name put on the sick board in the Canteen, please contact our Rehabilitation Chairman, Eleanor Rieth.

On August 4 we will be going to Michigan for our Ohio Caravan to the National Home. The Posts support the home and it's Ladies Auxiliaries throughout the country. The Ohio House gains most of it's support from the over 550 posts in the state. The children of Veterans reside there and need your help as they grow to become responsible citizens to the community. That's why we have the Ohio Caravan each year. It's called (OHIO DAY) at the Home.

Our CANCER PINS are now on sale (Little Hot Stuff) $2.25 each. You can purchase them at the Post Canteen, or from our Cancer Chairman, Ruth Conrad.

If you see an American Flag flying that is tattered and torn, at a business place or school, call our Americanism Chairman, Shirley Heldt, and she will take care of it.

Remember, our meeting in August will be on the FIRST TUESDAY of the month; 8 p.m. sharp.

The final meeting for the Post Picnic will be August 2nd in the Post Hall at 7p.m. Volunteers are needed and any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, support your auxiliary BAKE SALE at the picnic. It takes more than just a few of the members to put this on.
