Welcome
By the time you receive this letter the month of July will be gone.  There were a lot of activities going on, and I hope most of you got to participate.

The Life Member steak fry was on July 27, and I hope all you LIFE comrades enjoyed the meal and the fellowship that afternoon.  A special thanks to all who helped with this annual affair.  I don't have to mention any names as it is usually the same group year after year.  Would be real nice if more comrades would offer to help and maybe even take over the dinner.  We need younger people to help and learn all that goes on to put on a nice function.  Think about it, and don't be afraid to volunteer.

Don't forget to turn in you tear slip plus your dollar for the family picnic on August 11.  Make sure Roger or Frank, or one of the barmaids, gets the slip and money.  We have quite a few who say they turned in the slip and we never find it.  Put it in an envelope and mark what it is for.

Some of the members are going to the National Children's Home on August 3rd & 4th to visit and present our annual $2000.00 donation.  If you have never been there, try it.  You'll be amazed at the size of the place and how nice it is.

The officers will be going to the National Convention in Nashville, TN on August 24 to the 30th.

Don't forget to stop in at the Veterans booth at the Lorain County Fair and register.  You could win $50.00.  August 19 is Senior & Veterans' Day, (no charge).  Have some ID in case your asked at the gate.  Golf carts will be available in the parking lot to haul the handicapped into the grounds.  Don't be afraid to use the service.

Your Commander & Chaplain and 4 others played in the VFW State Golf Tournament in Akron, August 20-21st.  36 holes of golf and a steak dinner.  It was a lot of fun, and we met a lot of comrades from all over the state.

I found this little article in a magazine and I would liked to have put it on our memorial stone at the Western Reserve Federal Cemetery,  but the stone had already been carved:
Your silent tents of green
We deck with fragrant flowers.
Yours has the suffering been,
The memory shall be ours.
("Henry Wadsworth Longfellow")

If you get down to the cemetery to visit, walk the "memorial walk".  With all the stones from different Posts & Clubs, it's beautiful, and kinda sad.  But what a tribute to those that have left us.
And one last thought.  Sign up a new member today.  Let's stay the #1 Post in Ohio.

May God Bless You all, and keep you safe and healthy! John F. Polgar, Commander

CLAMBAKE NOTICE
Make your plans now to attend the Post's Annual Clambake.  This event will be held on Sunday, Sept 22.  Tickets, at $18.00 @, will go on sale in the Canteen near the end of this month.  Come and enjoy!
