Our annual Clambake is now history and once again we have to extend our Thanks to all who volunteered their time to help out We couldn't do it without you. According to everyone it was a Great Bake! Thanks Again! Cmdr Blaine
The Post will celebrate its 77th Anniversary, Monday, October 9th at 6:30 p.m. with a Dinner honoring the veterans of the Korean War during it's 50th Anniversary. If you served during this period, we'd like to have you take part in this occasion. Join us.
Halloween Dance
Saturday, October 28th. Get out for an evening of FUN! Prizes will be awarded to those in costume according to the judging. Make plans to attend.
The Life Member Steak Fries are a thing of the past for this year. Everyone had a great time with good food, refreshing refreshments, and much conversation. Also, I'll be in trouble if I don't mention the ladies from the auxiliary who worked the kitchen for both events. Thanks also go to one of our newest Life Members, John Hoepf, who made a generous donation to the Robert Combs Cancer Fund while attending the Steak Fry. Thanks again, John!
Most of the officers will be attending the "Big Ten" conference in Columbus from Friday, the 20th through Sunday, the 22nd. Reports of the meeting highlights will be given at the Post meeting following the conference.
Please Note (Early-Bird Dinners)
Sign up sheets for the Early-Bird Dinners will be in the Canteen on Monday, September 25, and will be pulled October 7th. Choose the date you want to attend (October 14th or November 4th) and leave your $5.00 refundable deposit with the bartender. Remember, annual dues paying members must have their 2001 year dues paid by September 30, 2000 to be eligible. All Life Members are automatically eligible. See you there. Roger.

Benefit - Hospitalized Vets.

Once again Ladies, Please read this newsletter CAREFULLY. The Ladies Auxiliary is now at 74% Paid in MEMBERSHIP. We still have 253 members that haven't paid their for 2001. If you are one of these members, Please make a special effort to pay now. It is your dues that need to be paid NOW so your Auxiliary will be 100% by December. THANK YOU!
Our first Early-Bird Dinner will be October 14. To be eligible to attend your DUES must be paid by September 30th. Mail your dues of $18.00 to our Treasurer, Catherine Eckhart. c/o VFW Post 1079. If you have any questions about our Life Membership, call Cathy Eckhart.
Our National Home Chairman (Shirley Wolfe) would like for you to save all Campbell Soup and etc. labels. Please bring them to the Post and have them put in the President's box. The home uses these to buy equipment for the children in residence. If you have any questions, please call Shirley.
Don't forget STANDDOWN October 24th. This is to be at the Franklin County Veterans Memorial, 250 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. This is where a large group of Volunteers get together to help our Homeless Veterans. They get Medical Attention, Veterans Advice, Lawyers Service, and just about anything that they would need to know can be found out here. There is a free meal, blankets, clothing, haircuts, most everything that they need, all FREE. All they need is a lot of Volunteers. If you have a few hours to spare to help the ones that gave so much for you, please be there to help our Veterans.
Our next Lorain County Council Auxiliary Meeting and Inspection will be October 23, (City View Center) VFW Post 8226, 3806 Clifton Avenue, Lorain.
