Welcome
Never in my 76 years did I ever imagine that an act such as this would materialize on American soil. Not only that, but for the tragic events to unfold live on national television was just unconscionable. All I kept saying to myself was "Oh my God"!
I have no family ties whatsoever to any of those heroic victims on board those flights, nor anyone in New York city. What I do have is enormous empathy and the most heartfelt sorrow for all those who have been affected by this national tragedy.
The image of September 11, 2001 will forever be etched indelibly in our minds until we shall pass. Life must go on. We will survive. We will rebuild. And we will go stronger as a nation. Our American resolve will, and must, see us through this.
May God Bless all of us Americans!
These thoughts were taken from a letter to the editor of the Chronicle by Keith Brown, Sr. I could never have expressed myself so well as Mr. Brown.
And in closing, I shall use part of another letter written by Bert Massey. He pleads to all of us not to harass or act violently upon others of the Muslim faith, or any people of Arab descent. Racism does not belong here because, before all of this happened, they too were, are, and shall be, AMERICANS.
God Bless us All. John Polgar, Commander
