Ponderings by the Commander:
“Happy Birthday” Post 1079; Chartered October 9, 1923.
Don’t forget the Clambake on Oct 3rd. Tickets are still available in the Canteen for the event for $20.
I wish to thank Annie & Cecil for donating their time on Wednesdays selling meat trays. Thanks, also, to the members for supporting the program
A reminder of the Life Member Steak Fry, Saturday, Oct 16th, 1—4 PM. Attendance slips on the September Newsletter must be returned by October 6.
District 9 Military Ball is being held October 9th at Clyde VFW Post 3343. Ticket cost is $12.00 per person. Reservations must be in by October 4th. See any officer for details.
Many thanks to all the Post members who donated their time working at the Veterans’ Booth at the County Fair. Al Urbanek put together a booklet with many of the Volunteers pictured in it. Stop in the office to look at the booklet.
Veterans Day, November 11th, will be celebrated by the Post with a ceremony & Tureen Dinner. A sign up sheet for the tureen dinner will be in the Canteen the week of October 18th. More on the Ceremony, later.
Our Post will host the VFW Lorain Couty Council Brecksville Hospital treat October 8th. Van leaves the Post at 6:00 PM. All volunteers are welcome to join us.
Our Post will also host the Lorain County Council meeting on Oct 12th. beginning at 8:00 PM, with refreshments afterwards. Check with me at this meeting so we can get credit for your attendance.
Last, but very important, is the new “Men’s Auxiliary scheduled to meet at the Post on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00PM. (See info below). God Bless, Steve

To the members of the Men's Auxiliary of Post 1079.
First of all I would like to thank the following people for their hard work and efforts for the success and getting the men's Auxiliary started: A very special thanks to Charles Crabells, who organized the Auxiliary, Larry Krugman, who installed the charter officers and members, and Commander Steve Kotai for all his work and dedication. To the many others who had a part in making this day happenTHANKS!
To the Ladies Auxiliary, a special THANK YOU for such wonderful food and service at our installation. The food was excellent and plentiful.
Members: Our meetings are set on the 4th Monday of every month at 7PM.
At this time your President would like to introduce the officers for the coming year. Lawrence Crabells, Sr. Vice... Mike Standen, Jr. Vice...Randy Esser, Treasurer...Ryen Esser, Secretary...Rob Watters, Chaplain...Ron Sparks, Jeff Forman, and Jeff Crabells as Trustees.
We are now accepting applications. The eligibility for membership is limited to husbands, widowers, fathers, grandfathers, sons, grandsons, brothers, and half brothers. (who attained that status prior to age (16) sixteen of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the VFW of the United States. Members must not be less than (16)Sixteen years of age. Men eligible for membership in the VFW of the United States shall not be eligible for membership in the men's auxiliary.
I hope you all stay well, and are able to attend the meeting on the 4th Monday of the month.

CANTEEN NEWS
We’re having a Halloween Party in our Canteen on Saturday, Oct 30th. Money and Gag Prizes will be given out for Best Costumes. We will also have entertainment that night in our Canteen. So pick out that costume and join us for a Goulish Night.

We are changing the drink chips for the last time. We will be using the new ones as of Oct 1st and we will honor the old ones until Nov 1st. After that, only the new chips will be accepted. We will not exchange the old chips for the new ones. Until Nov, Tina

What a thrill it was when I saw and heard President Bush speak at the National Convention. Many “Thanks” go to Ruby Burdick and Mary Tite for taking me to Cincinnati and giving me that opportunity.
The card party and Tureen Dinner were a success. It was very special to give out the Auxiliary pins from 25 years to 70 years. What a great group of Sisters. Congratulations!

We start our afternoon meeting on October 5th at noon with a luncheon.
October 7th at 9:00 AM we sew bibs.
October 19th at 8:00 PM, meeting—Officers at 7:00 PM.
A message from Sue McCallister:
I wish to thank all the ladies that helped me service the luncheon for the Men’s Auxiliary Installation of Officers.
Also, we had a very successful P.A.C. Bake Sale. A very big Thank You for all the Ladies for the baked goods, and hugs and kisses to all the members at the picnic who brought them.
A message from Ruby Burdick:
We hope each one of you is considering a donation to our Chinese Auction on Nov. 10th. Your donation could be a baked item, a handmade item, a purchased item, or a donation of your services to someone. What ever you can give, have it at the Post by noon on the 10th of Nov. We would appreciate donations from men and women. Then prepare to come and enjoy an evening of fun at our Auction.
Also, if your dues of $18.00 are not paid for 2005 before Dec 31st, 2004, you will be charged another $1.00, making your dues $19.00 as of Jan. 1st. This is mandatory by our National VFW Auxiliary. Please pay your dues NOW! Thank you.
