Two meetings and many functions in November. Please try to attend as many as you can.
Many thanks to Vivian Urig, Steve Kotai and myself for decorating the canteen for Halloween. Also to the others that gave us a hand. Thanks again, and it looks great.
Pray for all the people in New York & Washington that are still missing and especially those families that lost their loved ones.
And pray that those in the service will be successful in rooting out all the terrorists and they all come home in good health. God Bless America. John Polgar, Commander

Ladies Auxiliary News
Wilma Zech -President
The Red White and Blue is everywhere, mixed with the Halloween and Christmas decorations as we approach the two-month anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. We are still a bit on edge about what is happening to our country. The VFW and all veterans' organizations will be rallying around the flag on November 11th, and we will be there with the Red White and Blue to support our troops. Our prayers go out to the families of American's most recent MIA's in New York and Pennsylvania.
Rehabilitation: We thank the ladies who assisted with the packing of items for the Stand Down on October 23rd, and those who participated. Please read the article in the latest Ladies Auxiliary magazine by our District President, Linda Husk.
Americanism: Thank you to all who flew and are still flying their flag. We have much work to do in teaching the pledge, and working with the youth. How neat it was to have them sing patriotic songs at the ball game during the 7th inning stretch. We have citations for those who have "Soared above and beyond" with their patriotism.
Cancer Aid and Research: We have no key-chains this year, as they were all sold before we got a chance to order them. We do have a few pins. Get yours before they are also sold out. There are no more of either in the state.
Community Service: Please report your hours to Doris Adkins, any volunteer job you do. I worked the Blood Drive, and also do 4-H. What are you doing for our organization?
Hospital: Please call with your volunteer hours. We do have pins we can give you. Please try to volunteer more. Don't forget our Birthday Party on the second Wednesday of the month at OVH in Sandusky.
Jr. Girls Unit: We need items for the girls "Welcome Bags" when they come to the conference we are hosting in April. We also need more girls to join-check last month's newsletter.
Legislative: Have you heard they want to change Veterans Day to a political holiday the year the president is elected?? Write to you legislators. They are also working on help for elderly on prescriptions.
Do not forget to vote! It is our duty!
Membership: We need all the support for our troops that we can get. We need YOU to reinstate members who belonged and have dropped their membership. We need all dues paid before December 31st. I know all enjoyed the early bird dinner. Thanks for paying early, as we made our yearly donations, now we need to work on Christmas cheer.
National Home: Need Christmas cards to send to the kids, as well as birthday cards. Save those labels.
Political Action Committee: With the budget cuts being made, our VFW legislators have lots of wok to do in keeping the priority goals of the VFW intact. They need our funds. We are having a 50/50 to help with this.
Publicity: We need you to save any article you see with the Auxiliary name in it. Thanks.
Voice of Democracy & Youth Essay: We have the judging of the VOD this month, and the Essay contest is being worked on and due by December 1st. Call me for details. Youth Activities: Patriotic Art-Grades 9-12, Young Teen Volunteer, 12-16 years is due the first part of December, 150 words on "Why I am a Volunteer", so call if you need information.
This newsletter just hit on a few of the things the Auxiliary is doing. Why not join us and help us? We have refreshments and a 50/50 at each meeting. Only one a month, and our next is our inspection meeting.
May God Bless each and every one of you who are ill, lost a loved one, or just celebrated a special day. Wilma Zech, President
