November 2004 Newsletter

Ponderings by the Commander:

Where has summer gone?  It’s November already!

Our annual Clambake on October 3rd was a huge success with a good turnout of members.  Many thanks to chairmen Marty Blaine & Bob Burdick, and all who volunteered their time to help.

A special reminder of election day, Tuesday, November 2nd.  Everyone needs to take time to go out and vote.  We owe this right to all the WW2 veterans who fought and died for the freedom to do so.

Veterans Day, November 11th, will be celebrated a the Post with a  ceremony and tureen dinner.  The program will begin at 5:00 PM.  William Seagraves will be my guest speaker.  He was newly elected to serve the Department of Ohio as the Jr Vice Commander.  A sign-up sheet for the tureen will be in the Canteen Oct 25th.  Bring a large covered dish, or desert.  Post will furnish meat & spuds.

The Elyria Council of Veterans will also have an 11:00 AM program at our Post on November 11th.  A lunch will follow afterwards.  Please plan to attend both ceremonies.

We will be asking for volunteers to ring the bells for the Salvation Army this month.  Please sign up for the time you can volunteer for 2 hours.  Pat will put a sign-up sheet in the Canteen.

Boy Scout Troop 107 is putting on a Spaghetti Dinner, Wed, Nov 3rd, 5:00 to 7:00 PM  $6.00 donation for adults.  Please come and help them raise money for their programs.  Tickets available at the door.

It’s time to start planning for this years Children’s Christmas Party.  The party will be on December 19, 2004.  More about this from Charlie Crabeels.

I wish all a Happy and Enjoyable Thanksgiving! God Bless,  Steve

NOTE
Please report deceased members to the Post and those ill & in the hospital to the Chaplain, Robert Burdick.

Ladies Auxiliary News
Magadalene Elek,  President

Sisters of the Auxiliary

We had a good turn out for our first Noon meeting in October.  This has worked out well for members unable to drive at night.

“Thank you” to the ladies who came to sew 105 bibs for O.V.H. , and to Lorraine, Ruth and Marshall for delivering them.
Thanks also to Tina and Lori for preparing our lunch.  We will sew again on November 4th, since November is a busy month.

Don’t forget to VOTE on Nov 2nd;  then come to our meeting and enjoy a Brunch.  Call if you can help in the kitchen.

November 10th is the Chinese Auction. Members will have tickets for sale.  In advance they are 6 for $1.00, or at the door 4 for $1.00/  Have your donation there by Noon.  This is a good fund raiser.

November 16th is Inspection night.  Officers meeting at 7:00 and 8:00 regular meeting.

There will be only (1) meeting in December, on the 7th.  It will be our Christmas program in the evening.

Our prayers go to our Sisters that are ill, and Sympathy for those who have lost a loved one.  God Bless our Service Men and Women and our great Country.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving,  Magadalene Elek. Aux. President
