Welcome
I hate to start off by complaining, but I feel I must.  This past year has been a big disappointment for me as your commander.  What I mean to say is, why out of 1400 plus members it is so hard for me to get people to volunteer for our activities.  The same people seem to always be doing all the work.  It seems like, lately, if you do volunteer, you expect to get something in return.  Do volunteers expect to get paid for working?  It's not going to happen.  We might have to give up some of our activities, if we can't get people to work.

The group that have been carrying the load all these years, and you know who they are, have told me that this is the last year they plan on working.  They would like to sit back and enjoy themselves at our picnic, steak fry, clam bake, early bird dinners, etc.

At this time I would like to thank them for all the years they have supported the Commander by volunteering.  I would also like to thank the Rifle Squad &Honor Guard for the great job they have done all year at the funerals and other occasions they have been called on to perform.  Well done, men!  I'm really proud to be associated with such a fine group.

And I am again asking every comrade of the Post to try and sign up at least one new member.  We are losing members at an alarming rate and unless we all work on membership we will not be the largest Post in Ohio very long.

Now that I've got all that off my chest I want to wish everyone in Post 1079 a Very Merry Christmas and, hopefully, a very Prosperous New Year.  John F Polgar,  Cmdr

CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY:
Just a reminder that the children's party is on Sunday, December 15th at 1 p.m.  Doors will open at 12:30. Your child must be present to receive his/her gift.  Please, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Entertainment by Bill Gang, the Magician, will begin at 1:00 PM.  Snickers and Linus, the clowns, will entertain the children while the gifts are distributed. As always, a special guest will arrive to talk with the children. See you there, and Merry Christmas! Charlie Crabeels

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY:
The theme for this year-end Party and Dance will be the "Roaring 20s", Chicago Style.  Tickets, at $20 per person, are now available in the Canteen.  Get yours early so you won't be disappointed.

PEARL HARBOR DAY, December 7th
The Post will have a short ceremony in remembrance of this day at 11 a.m., with lunch to follow.  This service will be held in the Post Hall.

NOTICE
Comrades.do you know where your DD 214 (Military Service Record) is.  Many veterans fail to have their records recorded at the County Court House when  discharged from service.  This can create a problem when they come up missing , especially after your demise.

These documents should be kept with the rest of your important papers. For peace of mind, take care of this little chore today.
