Greetings
We have been rather busy since our last newsletter. On August 6, 2005 our ladies Auxiliary President Ruth Conrad, myself, Ed Selavko, Lorraine Cragin and Eleanor Rieth went with the Ohio Caravan from Jackson Michigan to the VFW National Home for the Children. They have a parade of checks and different post, County Councils and Districts and Individuals get in line and they are announced as they present their checks. Our Post has chosen them as our major recipient of our Charity fund which we must give to some charity organization, under the new gambling law. At our meeting on August 1, 2005 our members voted to send a check for $20.000 to be presented during the parade of checks for their general funds. I cannot begin to tell you how much they appreciated our financial support of the home. About $85.000 was collected.

On August 14, 2005 we had our annual post picnic. It rained prior to the time to begin but the rain stopped and we had perfect weather during the afternoon. I hope with all my heart you who attended enjoyed it. I sincerely regret the rain that kept some of you from attending.
In response to our donations to the VFW National Home for Children, not just the $20.000 we presented at the parade of checks, but for this year we have sent them donations which total $50.000 since January. The Executive Director Patrice Green and the Development Director Tim Smith, came to our picnic so they could thank the members of our Post personally for our support of the VFW National Home for Children.
Be sure to check our Canteen Manager Tina’s column for a function she has planned for the evening of Saturday September 10, 2005 in the Pavilion.

Ladies Auxiliary News
Ruth E. Conrad, President
Dear Sisters of the Auxiliary
Well ladies we are off to a good start. I want to thank the ladies that helped with the men’s luncheon, Wilma, Sue, Lorraine, Marie, and the ladies that went to Brecksville and helped with the treat. And the ladies that went to Department C of A, and the National Home. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
At the C of A we received the book with the all the Programs in it, so we can get to work. I will be passing out the programs at the meeting.
The National Home was nice again this year.. We have a Mother and two children living in our home. One of the children is a girl and she will be a senior this year, and her brother. They are keeping the home fixed up nice and very clean. We saw the grounds, they played games with the children, and we had lunch. They had the parade of checks and then we came home.
On the 4th we had our bib day. We cut, pinned and sewed 90 Bibs for the Ohio Veterans Home.
Thanks to everyone that helped with the picnic in any way, it was a great day. (after the rain stopped ) everyone had a good time.
